…To Do what I Say
…restoring Government to work within the limits of our Constitution.
We have noticed some emails from the other Campaign regarding my answers to some of the Liberty Institute Free Voters Guide questions. I answered those questions with regard to my view on the Constitutional limits for Federal Government involvement and stand by the answers.
We have seen plenty of excitement and spin from OBAMA and those in our Government who manipulate the media and distort the truth. WE, the American People demand truth and with regard to the Campaign of my opponent I also say, “Enough is Enough”!
Per the US Constitution our US Government is intended to be limited and to work from the individual up. Laws covering morality are reserved to the States. I believe the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision should be overturned and these laws returned to the States. Murder is another example of where the authority for laws covering this are reserved to the States. (there is NO place for a US “hate crime” – murder is punished by the State and victims should also be considered equal)
My opponent has gone on the record several times during debates saying she believes in “a role for the US Department of Education”. Per the US Constitution I do NOT! I and on November 30 a hundred others heard her say that “Government should fund student tuition through College”, she subsequently denied saying this on several occasions. Here again we say there is NO place for a school tuition voucher from the US Government!

2) Liberty Institute statement on ABORTION BAN: Ban abortion except where it is necessary to prevent the death of the Mother.
I believe in respect for and protection of human life from conception until natural death. Given the opportunity I will co-sponsor an Amendment stating “The sanctity of and right to Human Life shall NOT be infringed for any reason or purpose”.
Answer to the Liberty Institute statement: Favor. EXCEPT – When is it necessary to abort a child to prevent the death of the Mother? As my opponent should know with modern medicine there should never be such a situation. I have also been cautioned that using the word “death” or “health” (“of the mother”) is a backdoor way to allow abortions on demand at ANY point (even the last trimester).
3) Liberty Institute statement on TROOP WITHDRAWAL: Bring US troops safely home from Iraq immediately.
Our primary obligation IS for the USA to be an example to the world (“the shining city on the hill”, as Ronald Reagan stated) and when other Nations are ready they will stand up for the God given rights we cherish and which made our Nation great. We must stand up when threatened, but the US Constitutional requirement IS to have the US Congress to support the actions we take. I look at the pirates in Somalia as an appropriate action by the US Military. When we are confronted with a threat we knock them out; however, if we had occupied Somalia for the past 20 years we would have lost many lives along with $billions, and of course they would still be Somalians. We must operate our military forces with defined missions, to do less is a disservice to those who serve us.
Answer to the Liberty Institute statement: Favor. Our military is to be used only for defined missions, where we get the job done and depart. We are not the UN Police or nation builders.
6) Liberty Institute statement on SCHOOL CHOICE VOUCHERS: School Choice Vouchers in Inner Cities which allow parents of children in failing schools to choose a public or private school for their children.
I believe Education starts with the Individual and the Family. I believe in the right for parents to make decisions related to education. Education must be left to the Individual and the State (the US Supreme Court has also ruled this way).
Answer to the Liberty Institute statement: Strongly Oppose. There is NO CONSTITUTIONAL ROLE for the US Government in Education. My opponent is in Favor of Federal Government Vouchers for Education and a role for the US Department of Education with our children. My position is to keep the US Government within Constitutional limits and keep them out of the classroom.
11) Liberty Institute statement on FEDERAL MARRIAGE AMENDMENT: A Federal Marriage Amendment to the constitution, which limits marriage nationwide to a man and a woman.
I reject marriage outside the limits as defined by the State of Texas. Laws such as this are Constitutionally left to be addressed by the State.
Answer to the Liberty Institute statement: Strongly Oppose. Against Amendments to our US Constitution EXCEPT for the Right to Life and also Term Limits in the US Congress.
I promise to remain truthful, responsible and accountable to WE the People.
