23 Dec 09: If the health bill is passed, taxes and withholdings related to bill would start in 2010, yet the benefits would start in 2014. Why the disparity?
Could it possibly be that incumbent legislators want to be re-elected in 2010 and they know that the people would not vote for them if they really knew the legislation’s benefits? Could it possibly be that President Obama wants to be re-elected in 2012 and the health bill would be a grave liability if the people knew how it will work? Could it be that the Congressional Budget Office’s numbers do not show a deficit when moneys are collected for the first 10 years while benefits are paid for only 6 years? This is a gimmick.
After the first 10 years, every year will match taxes with spending, with large deficits accumulating. The politicians are using “smoke and mirrors” to try to convince the people that the numbers make sense.
When I am in Congress, I will not be a “politician” with all the negative connotations that word evokes. I will be forthright and treat the people with respect. I will not deal in gimmicks and tricks – reality and truth would be paramount.
