18 Dec 09: What would you do if your household was spending too much and you didn’t have enough income to pay your debts? Spend more and increase your credit limits? That would be absurd! That’s exactly what the current administration is doing to our country. President Obama signed into law a $1.1 trillion spending bill for fiscal year 2010 (not taking the Department of Defense into account, and only covering about half of the federal programs). At the same time, the House of Representatives voted to increase the country’s $12.1 trillion national debt by $290 billion dollars (this bill has gone to the Senate for a vote).
This is not the way to solve the country’s fiscal crisis. I will work to bring about a limited federal government apparatus that is true to the U.S. Constitution. Our government must be fiscally responsible and those who make decisions must be accountable for those decisions. If there is too much spending, then things must change. Spend only on what is necessary and stop the pork and waste. I will always take into account the impact that reckless spending will have on our children and grandchildren.
